Dr. Radovan Karadµić, BBC Television BBC2, Newsnight end of July 1992

Interviewed by Newsnight after arriving in London for negotiations.

"I guarantee full security for all humanitarian moves in and out of Sarajevo. I call on the Muslims to do the same."

Who is shooting at the UN ?
"The Muslim side wants international military intervention - they are trying to violate any ceasefire, to help them start their domination. ... I am positive. Serb positions are all under control. Not even sniper rifles - we don't have any. We are too far from city. (On Holiday Inn incident) They are criminal. Their nationalism is criminal out of control."

"The talks are in all three hands. Some days ago .. Serbian counter offensive -> Muslim propaganda, because they were losing."
"I am not interested in a military victory, but the political outcome of this crisis. When we show goodwill, they interpret this as weakness. Only Serbia is under pressure from the international community.

Ethnic cleansing: "We are not going to take any village. This is not permanent displacement. This happens during battle." "We don't want to annex a single bit of Bosnia Hercegovina."

Serbia: "There is no formal relationship with Belgrade. We are quite independent. If we stop fighting, we're going to be defeated. To defend or escape - those are the options. I will say we are ready to do anything - but surrender. I suggest extending the mandate of UN soldiers and establishing green lines.
